M10 ‘Achilles’

Detail

The M10 was a conversion of the Sherman in line with the American concept of fielding dedicated tank destroyers.

British versions mounted a 17 pdr gun and a later American version (the M36) eventually mounted a 90 mm gun.

The M10 had an open turret and used the same chassis as the Sherman but was less well-armoured.

The M10 started British service with the Royal Artillery.

It also saw service with both the 3rd and 7th Hussars.
