The 4th Light Dragoons was sent to the Crimean War in 1854. Lord George Paget led it into the Charge of the Light Brigade at Balaklava where Pte Samuel Parkes won the Victoria Cross.

WO1 (RSM) S.P. Birch, M.B.E. served in both the 7H and QOH. He died on the 7th of December 2024.
