Valentine

The Valentine was based on the A10 and had a 2 man turret mounting a 2-pdr gun.

It was originally rejected by the War Office but was resurrected in 1939 due to the imminent onset of war.

The vehicle was mechanically reliable but was always outmatched by the opposition in terms of firepower and protection.

It was used throughout the war being up-gunned first to the 6pdr and subsequently the 75mm.

The Valentine used by 3H and 7H in Italy was the Duplex Drive or ‘DD’ amphibious tank.
