About the talk
Eighty years after his liberation from a Japanese POW camp, Dr Karen Rothery shares the extraordinary story of Trooper Fred Leaver – his early service with the 3rd Hussars, wartime recall to the 8th Hussars, battles in North Africa, capture and imprisonment, and eventual return home.
Drawing on official records and eyewitness accounts, this talk retraces Fred’s global journey and silent resilience.
In addition to the above there will also be descendants of three of ‘B’ Squadron 3rd Hussars who were held in captivity in Japanese POW camps at the talk including the son of Lt Frow who was the Senior Officer from the Sqn.
