Lucknow, 1858

Cornet Bankes led a charge against rebel forces during the Indian Mutiny of 1857-58.

The regiment saw action during the Indian Mutiny (1857-59), where it took part in the final capture of Lucknow in March 1858. It remained in India until 1871.
