During the action at MECHILI on January 24th 1941 against an enemy column;
South of SIDI REZEGH on 23.11.41, whilst acting as wireless operator and loader in the Officer Commanding 7th Hussars’ tank this NCO was wounded in the head.
On January 22nd, 1941 this NCO was Troop Sgt when his troop advanced under heavy fire towards the wire at Tobruck.
Cpl French was in command of a Grant tank on May 27th, 1942 in the first action with the 8th Hussars against the German Panzers.
