On the night of 21-23 March 1918, he was sent with his squadron to relieve the infantry holding the important redoubts on the ridge above Hesbecourt.
CAPT P.deB.V.W. WILLIAM-POWLETT took command of his squadron on 19th November, 1940, after his Sqn Leader had been severely wounded.
On the 1st December, 1941 the 8th Hussars were leading the advance of the Brigade to relieve the New Zealand Division.
This officer has done consistently well throughout this campaign.
On 5th Nov 1951 No 3 Troop ‘B’ Sqn 8H was ordered to give close support to the Royal Leicestershire Regiment in their counter attack on Pt 217 and UNITED which had been captured by the enemy the previous night.
