CAPT P.deB.V.W. WILLIAM-POWLETT took command of his squadron on 19th November, 1940, after his Sqn Leader had been severely wounded.
In the attack against the enemy at BIR EL BINT he led his squadron with such energy and initiative that it penetrated the retreating enemy column to with-in 2 1/2 miles of NIBEIWA CAMP, inflicting heavy losses on the enemy both in personnel and equipment.
