Brian Kenny was commissioned into the 4th Hussars in 1954 and commanded The Queen’s Royal Irish Hussars from 1974-76.
Commissioned into the 4th Hussars, Lt Col JM Strawston was awarded the OBE for The Queen’s Royal Irish Hussars’ services in Malaya and Borneo.

Lt JW Hackett was Mentioned in Dispatches in 1936 for his work in Palestine.
Having served under Winston Churchill as Deputy Colonel of the QRIH from 1959-65 he took over as Colonel until 1969.
Sir John succeeded as Colonel of The 8th Hussars in 1947.
