Brian Kenny was commissioned into the 4th Hussars in 1954 and commanded The Queen’s Royal Irish Hussars from 1974-76.

He rose to become Deputy Supreme Allied Commanded Europe in 1990 having previously been CINC British Army of the Rhine, Commanded 1st British Corps and GOC 1st Armoured Division.

Following retirement from the Army in 1993, he was appointed Governor of The Royal Hospital Chelsea, a position he held until 1999.

General Kenny was the last Colonel of the Regiment of The Queen’s Royal Irish Hussars prior to amalgamation.
