At about 0730 hours on May 27th, 1942, the Regiment was attacked in greatly superior force by the 8th German Tank Regiment in the area Giof el Baar.
On 17th June 1944 at Briquessard, Major Huth’s Sqn was in support of 1/6 Bn The Queens.
During the German Panzer attack round our Southern Flank on May, 27th, Capt Huth’s tank along with all others except one in ‘A’ Squadron was knocked out.
On 21st April 1941 Captain DALE took his troop of cruiser tanks well forward of the infantry rearguard he was co-operating with.
CAPT P.deB.V.W. WILLIAM-POWLETT took command of his squadron on 19th November, 1940, after his Sqn Leader had been severely wounded.
On the 1st December, 1941 the 8th Hussars were leading the advance of the Brigade to relieve the New Zealand Division.
This officer has done consistently well throughout this campaign.
This outstanding officer has commanded his Regiment throughout these operations with great distinction, and proved himself to be a calm, resolute and fine leader.
This officer has been Adjutant of the Regiment throughout the campaign and has taken part in every action the regiment has fought.
