When The Queen’s Royal Irish Hussars passed through the border minefield and into Iraq on 25 February, the Battle Group was led by Major Maddison’s Squadron, spear-heading 7th Armoured Brigade’s breakout to the east.
On 6th March 1942 at PAYAGYI (North of PEGU) Lt Stanley-Evans, in cooperation with a Company of the West Yorkshire Regiment, led his troop into action against a Japanese Post in a wood which was held by infantry and four guns.
On 23rd April 1951, 2Lt Venner was commanding the Reconnaissance Section which was attached to ‘C’ Squadron 8th King’s Royal Irish Hussars.
