Captain Harratt took part in raids on ST.VALERY and DIEPPE.

He has since volunteered to carry out clandestine landings single handed on the North Coast of France, and has been responsible for the landing of agents and stores and for taking off agents.

Captain Harratt has constantly run the risk of having to engage the enemy single handed on arrival and though prevented from landing on occasions by bad weather, he has never hesitated to return to the same place in spite of the danger that the previous attempt to land might have given the enemy knowledge of his intentions.

He has never failed to be the first to land on beaches which were suspected of being heavily mined.
