On 10 Dec 40 this NCO was tank commander in a light tank squadron which was preceding a cruiser squadron engaged in cleaning up the area between the road SIDI BARRANI – SALUM and the sea.

When the leading tanks came under shell fire he directed his tank straight at the guns across an open plain. He got in among the guns and machine gunned the crews, who were serving their guns to the last.

This NCO displayed great coolness and disregard of danger throughout the action. His action greatly assisted the success of the operation.
