On the 27th Nov 1941, Sgt Barnet, who was in command of a tank, came under A/Tk gun fire from a prepared position South of SIDI REZEGH aerodrome.

His tank was hit and the bogies were badly damaged. The tank next to him was knocked out and set on fire.

He drove over whilst still under fire and picked up the crew of the burning tank, two of whom were wounded, and who had dismounted, and brought them back to safety, though his own tank was badly crippled.
