On April 21st, 1941, when in command of a tank covering an infantry retirement, handled his tank with such dash and skill that it destroyed two enemy with its first three shots, and then dealt most effectively with the enemy infantry accompanying them after which he went forward and got valuable identifications.
Throughout the operations his coolness, intelligent leadership and complete disregard of danger were conspicuous.
