Cpl Hubbard joined The 3rd Hussars aged 17, in 1919.
He served in Turkey from 1921-23, and then Egypt, from 1923-29.
After this, he left the Army, but remained in the Reserve for ten years, and rejoined in 1940 following the outbreak of World War Two.
He joined the 53rd Training Regiment in Catterick and spent some time at Barnard Castle.
Unfortunately, he was unable to go abroad with the Regiment following an accident and finally left the Army at the end of the war.
He was very proud of his military career, and of having been a member of the Regimental shooting team during his early days with The 3rd Hussars, for a number of years. A further source of great pride was that he was followed into the Regiment by two sons and a grandson.
He died on 2 July 1995.
