John died on 14 May 1993.
He enlisted into the Royal Artillery in 1940 and transferred to The 4th Queen’s Own Hussars in March 1944.
He was posted to ‘D’ Troop, ‘C’ Squadron who at that time were equipped with Kangaroos, a Sherman Tank adapted to carry infantry and materials.
He remained with them until being released in April 1946.
