Cpl Samuel Maginnis was killed in a road accident on the 6th September 1963, when his Ferret Scout Car was in collision with a bus.

Samuel Maginnis had soldiered in Malaya previously when he was with the Special Air Service and he also had served for some time with the Royal Ulster Rifles.

Although he had not long been with the Regiment, already he had established himself as an outstanding young N.C.O. and a first-class Irish Hussar, and his tragic death is a great loss to us all.

He was buried in the Military Cemetery at Kuala Lumpur with full military honours.
