The 6th Earl of Carnarvon died in 1986 aged 88.
He was educated at Eton and commissioned into the 7th Hussars, serving in the 1914-18 War, and subsequently leaving in 1923.
He rejoined in the 1939-45 War, during which he reached the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and was awarded the United States Bronze Star.
