Brian died on 17 July 2004 aged 75.

Brian enlisted into the Army on 24 January 1947 on an engagement of 5/7 years.

After completion of basic military training with 7 PTC, he was transferred to the Royal Armoured Corps and to the 9th Lancers where he was trained as a clerk.

In August 1948 he was posted to 4th Hussars and served with this regiment until the completion of his engagement, albeit the final six months were spent with the Shropshire Yeomanry (a TA regiment affiliated to 4th Hussars).

His service was with ‘B’ Squadron in which he was the squadron clerk. This took him to Malaya and Hong Kong. He returned to the UK with the 4th Hussars in December 1951 aboard the ill-fated Empire Windrush.

Within a couple of weeks of arriving in the UK, Brian married Edna on 22 December 1951 at St John’s Church, Edmonton, N18. On 10 January 1953 a son, David Raymond, was born.

Brian and his family initially resided in the western part of Essex but later moved to Cheltenham, Glos. During his residence in Gloucestershire Brian became a very active member of the Royal Society of St George wherein he held high office.

He and Edna attended various 4th Hussars Association events. Brian’s funeral took place in Cheltenham on 27 July 2004.
