The death occurred in October of Major H.M.P. Salmon, after many years of ill health, at the age of 52.

He joined the 3rd Hussars during his stay in Turkey in 1922 and he quickly established himself as a keen and active polo player. Known to all his friends as “Kutch” (an abbreviation of the Turkish for “small”). he was a generous and thoughtful person and always ready and willing to help others.

He was Adjutant from 1927-1930.

He rode successfully in numerous point-to-points and played polo several times for the Regiment. It was when playing at Aldershot before the war that he met with a serious accident, from which he never really recovered.

It was sad that he had to suffer ill health for so many years, but he bore it all with the patience and cheerfulness typical of him.
