Rory Monck-Mason, who died on 27 September 1991, joined the Regiment at Barnard Castle in 1948.

It was soon apparent that he was a very able accountant and became invaluable in running various Regimental accounts.

He was an excellent linguist in French and German. When in Germany he was relied upon to find out where the best shooting and fishing was to be had. He and his wife Olga were most hospitable and entertained all members of the Regiment. She was an excellent cook and their parties were greatly enjoyed.
