Albert Needs died on the 21st of February 2009.

Bert joined The 3rd Hussars in Palestine in 1947 and was then a Regimental Fitter employed as a Vehicle Mechanic.

He moved with the Regiment to BAOR in 1948, and in the same year was promoted to Corporal and qualified as an Army parachutist.

In 1949 he was posted to the permanent staff of the North Somerset Yeomanry in Warwick where he remained until returning to the Regiment in 1951.

On his return, he was promoted to Sergeant and in 1952 was compulsory transferred to the REME but remained with the Regiment in the LAD. In the same year, he took his discharge and settled in Bristol gaining employment as a vehicle fitter.

In 1953 he enlisted in the REME (TA) and joined the LAD North Somerset Yeomanry in Bristol.

After 15 years he resigned from the TA in the rank of WOII.
