Forbes died on 1 February 1990.

He was called to the colours in June 1941 and subsequently posted to 51st Training Regiment RAC in July 1941.

He was posted to ‘C’ Squadron 4th Queen’s Own Hussars at Mena Camp on 15 April 1942.

He was promoted to LCpl in December that year and to full Corporal in June 1943. He subsequently attained War Substantive Sergeant in September 1945.

Like most of us who joined the Regiment, he was trained in all the different jobs required for tank warfare, and latterly he excelled in wireless communication.

Forbes was a very genial fellow and was well-liked for his pawky humour.
