John Pritchard was born in Chester on the 4th of May 1918.

He enlisted into the Army on the 20th October 1939 aged 21 years for the duration of the Emergency and was Mustered as a Clerk and allocated to The 4th Hussars in November 1939.

John served with the Regiment in North Africa, Italy and Austria until July 1945 and was then transferred to the Control Commission Germany.

He served with the Commission until demobilised in February 1946.

John was awarded the 39/45 War Medal, Africa Star, Italy Star and Mentioned in Dispatches for his work at the Control Commission Germany.

He died on the 30th March 2010 aged 92 years.
