Ronald joined the 8th King’s Royal Irish Hussars in January 1944 at West Tofts Camp, Norfolk.
He sailed to Normandy with the Regiment and took part in many of the Battles which followed.
He left the Regiment in July 1947 when they were stationed at Lingen.
