He served with them in England, Libya, Cyprus and BAOR until January 1964 when he took his release.

He was posted to the Queen’s Royal Irish Hussars, at that time serving in Bovington.
He was initially employed as Provost Corporal and Provost Sergeant. He then became a Troop Sergeant in ‘A’ Squadron and following that was the Regimental Recruiting Sergeant in the Strand Office from June 1974 until September 1976.
On returning to the Regiment he was the Admin Sgt in ‘B’ Squadron before becoming SQMS of ‘C’ Squadron.
From January 1981 until August 1983 he was the Staff Sergeant in charge of NBC training at HQ 1 Division, Verden.
This was his last posting and he was demobbed in September 1983.
He then became a MOD policeman at Corsham.
Dave Lynch was a cheerful and loyal Irish Hussar who was a Regimental character and a staunch member of the Sergeants’ Mess.
