Arthur died on 2 February 1994.

He joined the 7th Queen’s Own Hussars in December 1943 whilst they were serving in the Western Desert. and took part in the battle of Alamein and other campaigns.

He was a Prisoner of War from January to May 1945. He was attached to various regiments and units subsequent to his release.

Leaving the Army in 1946, he opened a General Store in Lincoln.

In 1986 he took on the appointment of Welfare Officer with a Royal Tank Regiment Branch in Lincoln, and in this, he was ably assisted by his wife.
