Albert, who died on 24 August 1992, joined the 4th Queen’s Own Hussars in December 1919, when they were stationed at Colchester.
He was promoted to Lance Corporal in March 1920.
In December 1920 he was posted to the 8th King’s Royal Irish Hussars who at that time was in Lucknow. He moved with the Regiment on to Basra (Mesopotamia), where he served until November 1921.
He then moved to Egypt where he served until September 1923. He left the Regiment on discharge in November 1928.
The Regimental Secretary had been in close contact with Albert, as for many years through the Army Benevolent Fund he received a supplementary grant.
He showed great interest in the Regiment up to his death.
