Charles died in September 1992.
He joined the 3rd Hussars in September 1937.
In September 1939 he was employed at various Training Establishments and Base Depots until joining the 8th King’s Royal Irish Hussars at Cairo in September 1941.
He was taken prisoner at Bir Hacheim in May 1942 and was released in June 1945.
He spent the rest of his service with the Territorial Army until his release in June 1946.
