Trooper David J. Crone, 7th Queen’s Own Hussars, of Londonderry N. Ireland; originally a remount rider for the regiment was one of the first trained to drive a tank in 1936.

He was the tank driver of Major David Younger, ‘B’ Squadron Leader.

Both were killed in action at Sidi Rezegh, 21 November 1941 and are buried at the British War Memorial Cemetry at Halfya Sollum in Egypt.
