Fred died on 12th April 1994.

He enlisted into the Wiltshire Regimental Territorial Army as a Private in 1931. He was discharged after serving only one year to join the Regular Army.

He enlisted into the Cavalry of the Line and was posted to the 4th Queen’s Own Hussars in 1932.

He stayed with the same squadron (Regimental Headquarters) during his six years of service when the Regiment was stationed in Colchester and then Aldershot in 1934 as part of the 1st Cavalry Brigade.

In 1937 Fred married Ivy at Trowbridge. He transferred to the Army Reserve in 1938 and to the Royal Armoured Corps in April 1939. He was released in November 1939 on medical grounds.
