As a result sustained of an accident which occurred on the 11th of January, 1951. Tpr J. Haggath sustained injuries which proved to be fatal. His death was a blow his many friends, both in “C” Squadron and throughout the Regiment.
He joined the 7th Hussars nine months previously as a Regular soldier, having tried his hand both as a stable boy at Harry Peacock’s, Richmond Stable, and as a coal miner.
Preferring an open-air life to his latter occupation, he soon settled down and was well known throughout his squadron for his cheerful attitude to life and his typical north-country wit.
He will be sadly missed by his many friends, and we extend our sympathy to his mother and father, who live near Leyburn, Yorkshire.
