Mark Brown joined the Regiment in October 1980. He had previously been at the Junior Leaders’ Regiment at Bovington.

He was posted to the AMF(L) Troop in ‘D’ Squadron and quickly became both a popular and professional soldier.

He did particularly well on his CVR courses and it was when he was returning home for a weekend after the driving phase that he was tragically killed in a traffic accident on 7th November 1980.

Mark was an Irish Hussar for a very short time but even then he showed great promise and was conspicuous by his cheerfulness and keenness.

He became a good friend and we shall miss him. We extend our deepest sympathy to his family.
