It is with deep regret that we record the death of Trooper ‘Mick’ Wellstead in a motor car accident in Belgium, on 23rd February 1983.
He joined the Duke of Edinburgh’s Squadron shortly before Exercise Crusader as a tank crewman.
There followed the United Nations tour in Cyprus where he served in the MI room, and thereafter he joined Admin Troop working as the Squadron medic.
Michael was a quiet, unassuming young man, conspicuous in his keenness.
He is sadly missed by all. We extend our deepest sympathy to his family.
