Tom died on 28 December 1994.

He joined the 3rd King’s Own Hussars in January 1929 while they were in Lucknow.

For a short time, he was with the 7th Queen’s Own Hussars until he rejoined the 3rd in March 1930. In November 1930 he joined the Band. He took his discharge in January 1935, having served six years.

He was recalled in September 1939, back to the 3rd Hussars. A few months later he was posted to the Nottinghamshire Yeomanry and was appointed trumpeter.

In February 1941 he transferred to the Royal Engineers. He was a prisoner of war from 1941 until 1945, having been captured in Crete.

He served in India and Palestine and was a member of the British Expeditionary Force from September to December 1939.

He still proudly wore his 3rd Hussar blazer badge in Australia until the end and continued to be interested in all the Regiment was doing.
