Frank died on 1 June 1996, aged 76.

He joined the 4th Queen’s Own Hussars in May 1937 at Aldershot as a clerk and was a 4th Hussar until June 1942, when he transferred to the RASC, with whom he served until July 1962.

In November 1939 he was posted to the 56th Training Regiment at Catterick and in September 1941 to the 54th Regiment at Perham Down. He was promoted to Lance Corporal in March 1941. In June 1942 he moved compulsorily to the RASC and was posted to the Middle East. In March 1945 he was posted to 2 Para Brigade. He qualified for Airborne Pay in July 1945.

In October 1945 he moved to the RASC Depot. He was promoted to Sergeant in June 1947 while stationed at Hounslow. Shortly afterwards he was posted to the War Office. He went on to serve in BAOR, Singapore and various UK postings. He was promoted to WO1 (Staff Sergeant Major) in January 1958. In July 1962 he was transferred to the RAOC and was released in January 1963.

He was a stalwart member of the 1st Durham Troop and was the vice chairman for many years. He was born in Jersey and visited Len Huish on his visits to the island.
