Mr John Sidney (Pompy) Nichols died in hospital at Selly Oak, Birmingham, on July 22nd, 1966, aged 75.

John joined the 7th Hussars in 1907 and served with the Regiment throughout the First World War.

He was a very highly respected and popular R.S.M. of the Regiment. A fine horseman and a great sportsman, being the best all-rounder in the Regiment at that time.

John left the Army in 1934 and went to live in Jersey. He was a staunch and loyal supporter of the Regiment and the O.C.A. Unfortunately in later years, bad health prevented his attendance at functions. He will be sadly missed by all who were privileged to know him, and our sympathy goes out to his wife and daughter.
