On the afternoon of 24 Nov 41, near BIR GIBNI, a German fitters lorry was repairing a damaged German tank. with great courage and daring 2Lt Patteson drove up to these two vehicles in a Dingo and at the point of a revolver captured the tank, the fitters lorry, a German officer and seven other ranks. The prisoners were put in the German lorry and he made the driver follow his Dingo.
The identifications he obtained were of great value being 5 Panzer Regt. This officer has shown great courage and cheerfulness throughout the ten days fighting.
