During the period 1 Apr – 2 May 45 Major O’Brien has been commanding in battle the squadron that he had trained personally in the role of Armd Inf Carriers (KANGAROOS).
At all times during this period he has shown outstanding devotion to duty. Though his squadron had very little rest or time for maintenance he at all times was capable of fully undertaking any task allotted to him.
By his personal example of tireless energy, zeal and cheerfulness he kept his squadron going. He showed complete disregard to personal danger, and would always make himself personally aware of the situation whatever it might involve.
His exceptional power of leadership has been a major factor in the success of the KANGAROOS and the all important team spirit required with the infantry.
