On the 11th December 1940, in the BUQ BUQ area SSM Harrold showed exceptional resource, efficiency and coolness in organising and personally assisting in getting clear from a bombed area, both tanks, wounded men and prisoners.
In spite of the bombing, he showed complete disregard of danger throughout the night in his efforts to control the prisoners and look after the wounded.
His work throughout the whole period of operations has been of an outstandingly high standard, and he has at all times set a fine example to the men under his command.
