Throughout the whole period of operations in the Western Desert Sgt MacMasters has done consistent good work as a Troop and patrol leader.

On all occasions he has handled his patrol with exceptional coolness and efficiency whilst under heavy artillery fire, sending back most accurate and valuable information.

In particular his patrolling in the MUSAID area on 16/17 December, 1940, during which close touch was kept with the enemy, in spite of intense artillery fire, was of the highest order.
