Sgt Willets rendered valuable assistance to his Squadron Leader when he (the Sqn Ldr) had been gravely wounded in the tank action on he evening of 19.11.41.

With complete disregard for his personal safety he returned to the tank, under heavy fire, for the 1st aid outfit and with the assistance of Cpl Broadfield proceeded to make the Sqn Ldr comfortable.

His courageous action set an excellent example to all his fellow soldiers. He then walked and with the aid of a verey light contacted the regiment and reported the position of his Sqn Ldr.
