On 19th Nov 1941 Trooper Dovison was the loader-operator in his Troop Leader’s tank and showed exceptional courage and coolness throughout the first fortnight of the operations when he was continually in action.

On one occasion, when his tank was hit and appeared to be on fire, he took over the gun himself and carried on firing after the gunner had been ordered to jump out.

On a second occasion whilst alone on sentry he approached a German staff car which drove up to the night leaguer and captured one of the crew who got out armed with a tommy-gun.

Finally, when his troop leader was wounded, he attended to him whilst under heavy shell fire.

His complete disregard to personal safety was a fine example to the remainder of his troop.
