Yvo Lawrence Michael Fitzherbert, who was born in Ireland in 1919 and commissioned into the 8th Hussars in March 1940, tragically died in a car accident on 27th October 1993 on his way home from the memorial service for Major Richard Dill, to whose cousin, June, he was married.

Joining the Regiment in Egypt in 1941, he actually only served with them for six months, being appointed ADC to the British Ambassador to Egypt.

At the end of 1942, Yvo joined the Trans Jordan Frontier Force, becoming Adjutant of their Cavalry Regiment the following year. He served the rest of his military career with the TJFF and relinquished his commission in 1951.
