Bob died on 17 June 2009, aged 79 years.

He enlisted at Huddersfield on 21 April 1948. After training, he joined The 8th King’s Royal Irish Hussars who, at that time, was stationed at Leicester East Airfield. He was a Driver/Operator.

He moved to Tidworth with the Regiment in June 1950 to prepare for Korea, sailing from Southampton on 11 October 1950 and arriving in Pusan on 19 November 1950.

He was a Recce Troop man, except for a short period working with Major Roland Winn, the Belgian Liaison Officer, and as a member of 2 Troop, ‘B’ Sqn. He returned with the Regiment to the UK, sailing from Pusan on 15 December 1951 and arriving at Liverpool on 15 January 1952.

He moved to Luneburg with the Regiment on 21 March 1952.

He was awarded his 2nd Class Certificate of Education on 27 November 1952.

He returned to the UK (RAC Depot) for his release on 20 May 1953 and was released to the Reserve on 22 June 1953.

He joined the Regimental Association on 23 February 1994.

In civilian life, he was a Chicken Sexer.
