Arthur died on 6th December 1993.
He joined the 7th Queen’s Own Hussars in November 1940 whilst they were in the Middle East. He fought in the Desert Campaigns from then until moving to Rangoon and took part in the retreat to Imphal.
The final 150 miles had to be covered on foot, as the 7th Hussars had to destroy their vehicles.
He arrived in India in May 1942, stayed there until October of the following year and then to Italy where he took part in the advance to the North.
Arthur left the 7th Hussars in March 1945.
