John enlisted in 1932, joining the ACC in 1941.
He was posted to the 8th Hussars as Cook Sgt in 1948 a position he held with distinction for nine years, during which he also resourcefully coped well with the difficult active service conditions throughout the Korean campaign.
A good member of the Sgts’ Mess and of a happy temperament with a ready cheerful smile for everyone.
His last four years of service were at the ACC Technical School and he finally left the Army in 1961 at the end of a good solid career.
