Ted Carpenter died suddenly on the 17 December 1977.

He joined the 7th Hussars in 1940 and served with distinction throughout the Second World War winning the Military Medal in Italy on the 13 September 1944.

He left the army but rejoined at Tidworth in 1954 just before the 7th Hussars went to Hong Kong. He finally left the army in 1959 as S.Q.M.S.

He was the Standard Bearer of the Association up to the time of his death and was a most loyal and conscientious member of the Association.

He will be sadly missed by all his very many friends both in the army and civilian
